What Does a
Website Cost? http://ivacademy.ru HOW MUCH
does that website cost?
Website
prices vary greatly and if you’re reading this post it’s probably because
you’re either considering having a website built for your business, been tasked
to do research by your boss or you’re a freelance website developer wondering
what other people charge so you can price your own work competitively.  Welcome everyone!  Here, we will give you some straight answers
about what we specifically charge for website development and why.
OUR PRICES
START AT $1000
OK, so we
got that right out of the way.  Yes, we
charge no less then $1000 for a website. So how do we justify that pricing and
what goes into it?  Glad you asked.  Below we’re going to explain two main groups
of factors on website pricing:  What goes
into our pricing and how your needs impact the pricing.
OUR PRICING
FACTORS
How much
does a website cost? We’ve heard many stories from clients about how their
original website developer got a “real” job, a different job, disappeared,
graduated from college, retired or something else.  When engaging with a professional website
development firm like IVAcademy, understand that we use a team approach that
involves 1, 2 or 3 specialists depending on your needs.  We also have to pay those people for their
talents and abilities and earn a profit so we can be here tomorrow and the next
day and the day after that, should the need arise for YOU in the event you need
more help, updates, information, etc.
For nearly 10 years that’s worked pretty well for us and our clients.
Combine
those factors with the hours of consulting going into the process, during the
process and after the process and it starts to make more sense.  Also, unlike the really low priced website
options available, we ACTUALLY PICK UP THE PHONE WHEN YOU CALL AND TALK TO YOU!  OMG!
Yes, we even have our phone number on our website.  Here it is again:  +79811308385.   Call us anytime 10am – 6 pm , Monday through
Friday and the chances are better then 50-50 that we’ll pick up the phone on
your first try, and 100% that we’ll actually call you back within 24 hours but
usually the same day!  Why wouldn’t
we?  At least that’s the way we see
it.  The point is, companies like IVAcademy,
and, granted, some of our worthy competitors, want to hear from you.  And if you’ve ever called and spoke to us on
the phone you know we’re happy to help you sort things out, give free advice
and lots more, so we believe that has a LOT of value that’s worth paying for if
you decide to do business with us.
All Our
Websites Include
Initial
consultation on your business objectives and goals for your website
Complete customization
of template designs
Domain name
and hosting assistance/installation
Transfer of
existing content
Content
formatting
Social
Media integration
Map links,
video integration, data input or contact forms (optional)
Training on
how to maximize and manage your website
HOW YOUR
NEEDS IMPACT PRICING
But enough
about us.  The most important pricing
considerations are based on what additional or specialized features you need.
Just like
buying a house or a car or even having your kitchen remodeled, it’s about the
features you want, need, and can afford.
Pricing
your website is about the features you want, need and can afford.
FEATURES
THAT IMPACT COST
Our $1,000
price is loosely based on building a 10-page website because we can all agree
that time-wise, building a 10 page site takes less time then a 50 page website,
right?  Why 10 pages?  Well, for the majority of our small and
medium-sized business clients, 10 pages pretty much covers their immediate
needs.  BUT, (and this is a HUGE but)
since we almost exclusively build Content Management Systems (CMS), part of
every package includes training on how you or your organization can EASILY add
UNLIMITED pages or products for ecommerce so your website can grow with your
business.
Here’s Some
Features That Add To Your Website Development Costs
Ecommerce:  the ability to accept money and sell products
off your site
Special
functionality like event calendars, live chat, PayPal integration
Custom
designs:  we customize template themes to
save you money which we suggest you spend on marketing your business.
Original
content writing
Full search
engine optimization (SEO) services
Social
media automation
Monthly
site traffic analysis and reporting
So there
you have it.  I hope this explains
clearly and concisely what we charge, why we charge it and what value beyond
just a dollar amount that we bring to the table.
Any other
thoughts on pricing please feel free to share them here.  Thanks!

WHAT DOES A WEBSITE COST? We working helping to build websites and implement online marketing plans for organizations of all sizes.

WHAT DOES A
WEBSITE COST? http://ivacademy.ru/
You
probably came here in the process of doing research. Are you a small business
looking to build a website? Or maybe you’re a non-profit, looking to redesign
your website in order to more effectively communicate your mission? Or, are you
the marketing director for a multi-million dollar organization looking to
improve customer relations and increase revenues?
We worked
with all of the above, helping to build websites and implement online marketing
plans for organizations of all sizes. We’ve been professionally developing
websites for over a decade and we love to educate the business (and consumer)
market at large about what it takes to build a website and, perhaps most
importantly…
LET’S
DETERMINE WHAT TYPE OF WEBSITE IS RIGHT FOR YOU
Websites
Prices For Small Sized Businesses, Websites Prices For Medium Sized Businesses,
Websites Prices For Large Sized Businesses, Websites Prices For an Individual
Website Prices, For Ecommerce Businesses
WHAT IT
COSTS TO BUILD A WEBSITE
BASIC
WEBSITE $500 – $5,000 this is pricing guidelines if you are talking to a web
development company.
ADVANCED
WEBSITE $7,500 – $30,000- With this level includes a tool that allows you to
update your website yourself if a company builds it for you.
CUSTOM
WEBSITE -$15,000 – $100,000+ finally, something totally custom. A larger site,
with advanced functionality to custom fit your needs.
Like the
businesses they represent, websites are not all created equal. Websites serve
various purposes, feature different technology and therefore they can vary
greatly in cost as the level of design and functionality increases and becomes
more complex to suit your company’s needs. At IVAcademy our hourly rate is $120.
We offer special discounts for partner companies, non-profits, and in select
cases partner projects. All of our pricing is based on this hourly rate, our
overall costs (wages + overhead) and the long-term costs of properly
communicating and supporting our clients.
WEBSITE
PRICES BREAKDOWN
Basic
Website Prices- $500 – $5,000 -For Small Businesses and Individuals. With
advances in business models, content management systems, and software there are
now (and really there have been) some amazing tools online some include ivacademy.ru
among many. These tools are amazing. As a development agency it’s sometimes
scary to see how far things have come. However, it’s important to note – these
tools are often complicated and our (general) audience is still not comfortable
learning and using these tools. Similar to the above – these sites are highly
configurable, but still require some coding, graphic design, and other
knowledge to cull out of them a custom, attractive look.
IF YOU HIRE
A DEVELOPER: $2,000 – $5,000 -A basic designed website, acts primarily as an
online brochure, establishing a necessary presence online to answer your
customers’ questions “do you exist?”, “are you professional?” and “what do you
do?” A basic website can be created in the $500 – $5,000 range. This website
may or may not allow you to interact in a 2-way conversation with your audience
(social networking, blog), transact business directly through your site (ecommerce),
or enable you to manipulate and update the pages and content within your site
without hiring a web programmer/designer to do it for you (Content Management
System does enable this for more $$$).
This gets
complicated to further elaborate on why this may or may not be included. For
us, the complexities of using and designing around a content management system
(or tool that allows you to update your own website) is usually a bit more time
consuming then coding HTML from scratch – additionally there are a lot of
customer service, content, and small testing requirements that eat up time and
budgets for all projects – but which make up a significant fraction of smaller
projects.
A basic
website site will serve to help brand and market your company, showcase your
products and services and inspire sales as a lead generating tool. The design
of your website will, most likely, be templated at such low costs. This means
that your site probably mirrors that of other sites on the web. With our firm,
these sites will be responsive using the latest standards to allow your site to
look the same on nearly every computer/device and will be Search Engine
Optimized (SEO) for greater natural search engine ranking success.
But not all
firms code the same and have search engine optimization or online marketing as
a top priority. Also, web analytics are provided with every site we build to
track and ensure your web success.
Advanced
Website Prices- $7,500 – $30,000 For Medium Sized Businesses
Previously
our pricing was in the $3,000- $8,500 – for this line item (previously called
Content Management System). We’ve since increased our pricing. We’ve gotten
very good at tracking the total money needs of a project – throughout the
lifetime of our relationship with clients. And this means we have to cover
costs for phone calls, the sales process, meeting space, the actual work (OF
COURSE!), and then after launch support.
Depending
on the level of aesthetic design that is requested as well as additional
features Content Management System (CMS) websites will run at a on average
around $7,500. These websites are created with both functionality and design in
mind, as you will receive both custom art design and the ability to manage and
update all content, images, and text contained within the pages of your site
(infinite number of pages possible). With a CMS capable website, your site will
have endless possibilities.
This year
UPDATE: In reviewing the old information it’s interesting to see where we’ve
come. We decided to knock out our “custom website” line item completely from
the list because almost all of our sites now-a-days contain an element of
custom design. In addition we build ALL of our sites, when we can, with a CMS
(content management system) for clients. Finally, we’ve also started bundling
in writing services – no more waiting years for project launches.
These
websites are built with the idea that you will have a significant number of
changes, additions or updates to be made to your site in the near future.
Instead of being charged hourly rates to make such changes, a CMS system
enables you to do a majority of the basic additions without prior coding or web
designing knowledge.  Social
interactivity with your site visitors is possible with a site of this caliber,
as a BLOG will be present within your site enabling you to place posts of
content that you believe is relevant and desired by your audience. Your
audience can choose to respond to your blog posts and each others comments
allowing for 2 dimensional interaction between you, your audience, and within
your audience.
Some
ecommerce and real state listing sites can be created within this price range
depending upon level of functionality and design.  Also, sites of this caliber have varying
prices with regard to design elements. These sites do have custom design work,
but more expensive elements like Flash Art creation will affect pricing.  Again, with our firm, these sites will be CSS
and XHTML Coded to allow your site to look the same on nearly every computer
and will also be Search Engine Optimized (SEO) for greater natural search
engine ranking success. But not all firms code the same and have SEO as a top
priority. Also, web analytics are provided with every site we build to track
and ensure your web success.
Custom
Website Prices
CUSTOM
WEBSITE | $15,000 – $100,000+
For large
Businesses or businesses that solely drive on the web
If you are
looking for a larger site, with advanced functionality including but not
limited to social networking, blogging, ecommerce, or any other web application
topped off with great design and content that speaks to your audience you
should expect to pay a bit more than the previous two sections. We’ll detail
out some specifics in our additional sections on Ecommerce & Custom
Applications, but this section should serve as a decent place for larger
businesses to start.
Like we said
before, some ecommerce and web applications can be created for less, while most
successful ventures are created for much more.
There are countless sites that have fallen in this price range include
Facebook.com, Orkut.com, and BestBuy.com to name only a few (all GREATLY
exceeding 6-figures).  A site within this
price range may be built and hand coded from scratch – and in all cases will
require extreme customization – and coordinating various technologies in order
to work with your company or infrastructure.
That means
your site is unlike any other and requires the attention and expertise of an
experienced web application developer(s) and web site designer(s). A site that
falls into this category requires months of planning, research, consulting,
database design and implementation, software development and integration, site
quality assurance and testing.
I know what
you are thinking, ‘who knew it was so expensive?’ And the only answer I can
give is that web design and creation is like any other craft or trade and
requires a high level of knowledge and expertise.
Why are websites
in this range so expensive? Here’s a few factors to consider, and examples of
scenarios we’ve been in throughout the years that change the cost of a website,
even when functionality may not necessarily be beyond the ordinary:
Tighter
timelines
More
meetings
More people
(and approvals) involved
More
exacting content specifications
More pages
of content to port over or account for
Additional
security concerns
Governmental
or other requirements/regulations must be adhered to (for example 508 compliance
is a beautiful and on some projects required element – accounting for this and
testing for it takes extra time and money)
None of
this is extreme or out-of-the-ordinary, but when needed or required, costs go
up.
GOING
BEYOND A WEBSITE
Ecommerce
Website Prices, E-COMMERCE WEBSITES
For
businesses that sell multiple products online
Over the
years we’ve updated this page and our own pricing many times. We’ve decided to
add two new sections, one for E-Commerce, and one specifically for customer web
applications. E-Commerce Websites are those characterized by the ability to add
products and transact business online – IE accept payment for products, and
facility shipping, correspondence with purchasers, etc.
Similar to
our above breakdown, E-Commerce sites, in and of themselves have many varying
levels of pricing. For example the absolute simplest “e-commerce” site we come
across, and one that actually accounts for most of the requests we get, is
either a single paypal button – or the ability to accept payments/donations
online (most often for a non-profit). Even with such a simple starting point,
there’s a lot of questions to address – what was the existing site built on? Do
you already have an account with paypal? Do you want to keep people on your
website as they make their purchase? And the list goes on. However, when you
start to add products, shipping, transnational email (thank you emails, etc.)
things get a bit more complex. If you’re JUST starting out and are comfortable with
blogging and setting things up – we highly recommend ivacademy.ru for
ecommerce.
Generally,
most of our clients with e-commerce needs also need guidance, education, and
setup with the following:
Server
Setup
Merchant
Account Setup
Payment
Processor Setup
Shipping
Setup – Including coordination/setup of accounts
Basically
an ecommerce site is like a normal website, on steroids, and most clients need
a knowledgeable and reliable company to not just make the right decisions, but
also to guide and hold their hand along the process.
Custom
Application Prices-$500 – $10,000+ FOR PLANNING AND $? FOR THE END PRICE
For
businesses that need custom work
Our team
worked with our client to design what it would look like, how it would work,
and then launched the new site. Literally we turned man’s dream into a reality
– and created a business out of his idea. Custom web applications can be large,
or small. At IVAcademy, we prefer to start with a project scope.

IN PRICING
WHY ARE
SOME WEB DESIGN COMPANIES SO INEXPENSIVE WHILE OTHERS ARE OUTRAGEOUSLY PRICEY?
To wrap up
this whole discussion on pricing I wanted to address something that’s been
coming up more and more – even in this year – why are prices so wildly
different in the web design industry? We had a recent bid on a project where we
were smack in the middle. On the low-end there was a company vying for the
project at $1000. On the high end, $30,000. Then us, smack-dab in the middle.
Our future client would go on to ask us… “What gives? Why are you so much more
expensive than the low-end companies, and so much less expensive than the
high-end companies, and why is there such a massive difference in the first
place?” What is with this industry!!!!!
I suppose
it works a lot like consulting. On the low-end you have people that frankly,
have no idea what they’re doing, didn’t listen enough (or pay attention) and
frankly are just throwing a number at a wall. I know even with razor thin
margins and outsourcing that $5,000 will only allow for about 100 hours worth
of time. And there is NO FREAKING WAY this client was going to get the system
they needed (based on what they communicated to us) within 2 weeks’ worth of
work. I explained as much and they agreed.
And, just
like consultants, you have some operating on large margins, prestige, and a large
(sometimes helpful, sometimes laborious) process that cost more. Is the
$300,000 company twice as good as someone half as expensive? Probably not. At
the end of the day it’s all about satisfying requirements. In my opinion it’s
the company that can do that the best that wins. If the budget is one of those
requirements, then that must be a factor. If on the other hand, budget is high
– and a more important piece of the puzzle is that the new system “work” or
that the future development company properly communicate progress along the way
– then those extra tens of thousands of dollars are well spent.
I can’t
stress this enough, on projects where we see extremely low budget – elements
always get left out – and future support was non-existent. Just 2 months ago
two former clients came to us requesting a copy of their website as the
companies each had gone with had disappeared and taken their website and email
with them. Their email down-age cost them tens of thousands of dollars, and
their website represented more than a $5,000 initial investment and lost
marketing dollars.
In all
between the two of them this other provider ended up costing them nearly
$30,000.
We’re proud
to continue to charge correctly, providing our clients with amazing support and
technical know how. Even years after these clients ended the relationship due
to price, they came back to us and we were around (with backup copies no less)
of their sites, proving that “quality doesn’t cost… it pays“.
Unfortunately,
even 5 years after writing this post we continue to hear story after story
where companies explain – “our web guy was great, but then he disappeared.”
Too often
us web folks are kind, caring people, who are new to business uncomfortable
asking for a fair rate that will allow their company to grow and prosper and
allow for flexibility when emergencies arise. So we charge too little
(IVAcademy did it at one point). Unfortunately that creates an eco-system where
no one is accountable and – eventually – there’s no one there to pick up the
phone or answer an email when shit hits the fan. And believe me, eventually,
the shit always hits the fan.
Not to
mention there are literally hundreds of tiny steps that you – as the purchaser
or client – will never know that need to be done. Making sure analytics code is
correctly installed, making sure goal tracking is setup, submitting the site to
webmaster tools, etc. and if these aren’t done you are receiving a sub-par
product (with potentially sub-par marketing results – learn more about your
sites coding and its effect on your organizations overall marketing) and if
they are done, even the simplest site will still take many hours to fully
setup.
The bottom
line is, like in many industries web design and development is definitely an
area where you get what you pay for.

IVA Forum :: Topic: How To Start An Internet Business In 3 Easy Steps (1/1) How To
Start An Internet Business In 3 Easy Steps (And What Holds You Back)

It’s not
quite as easy as the title makes it sound, but bear with me, this article will
explain the three steps that are the foundation of every Internet business, why
so many people go wrong and give you some realizations that might just be the
key to take your Internet business to the next level…
I’ve been
studying resources lately designed to teach Internet business, but not just
introductory materials, content that goes beyond beginners and is intended to
take you to making making millions online.
In my case
I’m interested in advanced topics that I can apply to what I do and fill my
current knowledge gaps to take the next step forwards. While hunting for those
elusive gold nugget ideas I invariably scan the introductory materials and
learn with interest how this particular person or organization cover the basics
– how they suggest you get traffic and make sales.
My studies
have led me to the conclusion that Internet business is actually quite easy.
Explained in simple terms (which I will do in a moment), the structure of a
successful online enterprise is comprised of a few components, that when linked
together can deliver hundreds, thousands and even millions of dollars in online
profits.
Easy Money
Easy As
1-2-3
While we
all have different ways of presenting what we do and the tiny details of
getting a result vary, most Internet marketing experts teach the same few
principles, which are in fact no different from what direct marketers have been
doing and teaching for decades.
It goes
something like this…
Step 1:
Traffic
All online
business models rely on traffic of some shape or form, and it’s here where I’m
always curious to find what others do to drive attention to their business, as
I’m sure you are too. In almost all cases a combination of one, two or all
three of the following techniques are the main traffic drivers that fuel the
business.
Pay Per
Click: Buying traffic from Google’s AdWords is recommended as the quickest, but
least forgiving traffic tool. Get this right and you get thousands of visitors
instantly at a cost lower than the income they return. Get this wrong and you
lose money. It’s a harsh learning curve, but for the winners the pay-off is
significant.
Search
Engine Optimization: Again Google is a significant component of this traffic
source, delivering thousands of visitors to websites that rank well. I was
tempted to call this traffic method “content marketing” but let’s keep this as
simple as possible. For those who are diligent and learn how to leverage
content, search engines offer a steady stream of free traffic – it can just
take a while to get it flowing.
Affiliates:
Affiliate marketing is the most underutilized traffic source for many Internet
businesses and that’s likely because it takes more than mechanical mechanisms
to make it work. Relationships are required, but when you get the elements
right presenting a winning offer to affiliates results is a huge traffic
windfall for you. Affiliate traffic is usually quality traffic, thus has the
highest conversion rate and best of all – it only costs you money when you make
money, so it’s a low-risk investment.
Beyond
these three core traffic techniques there are many other methods that can be
used, but if you look under the hood of most Internet businesses you will find
that one or two or all three techniques above account for the big chunk of
converting traffic.
What Is
Yaro’s Best Source of Traffic?
In case you
are wondering, my best source of traffic is affiliates followed by search
engines. For most blogs search engines will account for the largest chunk and
most dependable source of traffic, since good blogs are content driven and
search engines love content.
Step 2:
Make A Sale
Once
traffic is flowing, the next condition required for a profitable business is to
make that first sale. A targeted front end offer is the usual suggestion, in
most cases a sub-$50 priced information product, although a physical product
can work too (many late night TV infomercials use a loss-making front end offer
of a physical product that is used to identify and open communication with
customers).
The purpose
of the front end product is to generate a customer. Profit does not come from
sales of the front end product in most cases (it’s hard to get rich off a $27
ebook), rather it is raising the per customer value that results in the big
gains (more on this at step 3).
The front
end product is important because it opens the door to a potentially long term
relationship, which when done right, will result in benefits for the company
and the customer. The first sale also creates the window of opportunity for
step 3 – upsells and back-end offers.
Step 3:
Sell More With A Bigger Margin
The core
concept of step 3 is that it is always easier to convince someone who is the
process of buying or who has bought previously, to purchase more.
The front
end offer at step 2 creates the buying condition and then at step 3, upsells,
downsells and cross-sells of digital items, continuity products, coaching,
consulting, physical products, seminars, conferences and anything you can come
up with that is relevant and valuable to your customers, is where the profit
comes from.
While not
every customer will take advantage of back-end offers you make, the strategy
relies only on small segments of your customers buying your upsells and
back-end offers. The margins at this point however are significant, so one
back-end sale can result in as much profit as 10, 100 or even 1,000 front end
orders.
As I talk
about in the Conversion Blogging Video and break down in some depth in the
Sales Funnel 4-Part Article Series, the idea here is to filter down to a very
small group of people, a subset of all the traffic you generate, who buy
everything you offer (or at least something with a high profit margin). It’s
these people who benefit the most from your business, but it takes the above three
step process to attract and filter down to them.
When you
get this process set-up, you can determine how much each customer to your site
is worth. You know how much traffic you get, you know how many of them buy your
front end offer depending on what source of traffic they come from and you know
how many of them buy back-end products and upsells. From there you can
calculate how much each customer is worth, on average, to your business.
Do You Know
Your Customer Value?
Rich
Schefren hammers home the concept of Customer Value in his Business Growth
System. He really needed to get this principle right because long before he was
an Internet business guru, he had physical real world businesses (an hypnosis
company and a boutique fashion store in Manhattan, New York).
When you
run real world stores your costs are so high that you have to get your numbers
right. If you don’t, you lose money – lots of it. In the Internet world things
are more forgiving because sunk costs are so much lower, however that doesn’t
mean customer value is any less important.
Internet
business owners don’t suffer the consequences of not focusing on the key
customer metric, instead we can flounder around, test and fail and walk away
perhaps bitter and frustrated, but it doesn’t cost us much more than our time.
If you were investing ten or twenty or even hundreds of thousands into your
business, you would know your numbers from the start.
Raising
Customer Value
If you
knew, despite selling a $27 front end ebook, that thanks to a strategically
timed and optimized followup process, that each customer you convert is
eventually worth $300 to your business, could you use that to your advantage?
Of course
you could!
You could
spend more on pay per click advertising. You could hire search engine and
content development professionals. You can pay more money to affiliates. All
these things drive more people into your business, result in a huge strategic
advantage over your competitors and fuel massive profit growth.
If you have
been keeping up with recent launches in the Internet marketing space, nearly
all the leading players have been implementing this process recently, and
that’s no coincidence. These guys (and a handful of girls) are testing, sharing
results and then replicating the process and of course – promoting each other’s
launches each time they have something new.
As I
outlined above in the three steps, it’s not a difficult concept to grasp once
you spend some time studying Internet marketing (and perhaps experiencing the
process as a customer of another marketer). However so many things can hinder
the outcome that very few get far enough along to realize the million dollar
result.
If It Is So
Easy – Why Isn’t Everyone Doing It?
The
problems lie in the details. While the explanation I provided in this article
may present a process that is conceptually easy enough to understand once you
get used to the basics of Internet marketing, pulling it off is difficult.
Most fail
at step one – traffic. Despite best intentions and some initial hard work,
people are sporadic workers at best, and without some kind of immediate
gratification, give up long before results come.
Worse
still, many begin an Internet business with existing hindrances that plague
their ability to perform – things like mortgages, full time jobs, families to
support, ingrained self defeating belief systems, unrealistic expectations,
poor work habits, an inability to let go of control or hire help when required,
inferiority complexes, low self esteem or all manner of roadblocks can get in
the way.
For those
who persist long enough minor results come there way, yet after such a long
journey and so much effort, they are disappointed and discouraged – they
expected to be making better money by now.
Take It To
The Next Level
Take it to
the next levelHard workers and people with talent often get the traffic part
right and might even make some money with a front end offer or selling
affiliate products, but they are working at full steam just to maintain that
level. The idea of creating more product to sell for upsells and back-ends,
creating sales pages, recruiting affiliates and doing even more seems
impossible – the current workload is suffocating enough.
I can vouch
for this because, while I’m successful to a degree (certainly above average), I
am still not realizing a lot of potential – in fact I’d say I’m only realizing
10% of what I could achieve if I took the next step with my own business.
The
advantage I have is I don’t see it as impossible to take the next step, nor do
I feel that I am suffocating because I’ve built my business based on freedom
before money. However, I do face a choice as to where my business is going to
go next.
What Tiny
Details Hold You Back?
It’s
inevitable if I want my business to grow that I will need to make changes. The
greatest potential for growth in any business is removing those things that
hold it back, that constrain it. This is such a big issue that Rich Schefren
decided to focus his entire new report just on constraints (I’ll get you the
download link for the report at the end of this article).
As I stated
earlier, it’s the details that stop people from succeeding at all points of the
3 step system for a successful Internet business. In my case, I’m held back
somewhere around the step 2 and 3 area, although there is certainly potential
to do a lot more at step 1 as well.
Here’s a
list of the constraints holding me back –
Lack of
product to sell: I’ve got a bunch of products that are near complete or merely
ideas in my head to be created that I just never get around to implementing. As
a result, I don’t have anything close to a fully developed sales funnel with
upsells and a back-end.
No sales
process for new products: Even with products ready to go, I can’t sell them
until I have a sales page up and running with my shopping cart to take payment
and deliver the goods. Plus you need autoresponders to keep the marketing
system going for each new product and let’s not forget the whole “launch
process” for each new product.
Maintenance
of current systems: I spend most of my time keeping the status quo going and
there’s very little work on new projects. I blog, support my paying students,
promote affiliate products and fix things when they break.
I’m
traveling: This one is understandable and will change soon enough, but it’s a
constraint now because the little details (again with the details!) while
traveling suck time too.
I’m holding
myself back: Ultimately, as a big picture answer – I need to get a whole lot of
stuff done that I cannot realistic do myself – I need the help of other people.
I could
break each point above into more minute details, all the tiny things that need
to get done that constrain my results, but I think you get my point.
Now, how
about you?
Every
business owner should be able to sit down and relate a series of constraints
that hold them back, based on where they currently are with their business and
where they want to go next.
I suggest
right now you take a look at what you focus on with your business, what the
next step is to achieve your next immediate goal and what’s holding you back
from getting it done.
Care to
share your constraint?
If you are
brave – take a few minutes to leave a comment reply to this article and list
your present constraints, where you currently sit in the 3-step Internet
business system and what needs to get done next.
You Need
Awareness Followed By Action
Thankfully,
just be reading this article to this point and reflecting on your own business
situation you are getting closer to figuring out what is stopping you from
successfully implement the oh-so-easy 3-step Internet business plan.
Here’s a
process you can go through next to keep the momentum going –
Become
aware of the need for change
Determine
what problem has to be solved next
Isolate the
first step required to move towards solving the problem
Collect the
required resources to take that first step
Execute
Rinse and
repeat this to remove every constraint you have and you will be a millionaire.
It’s that easy :-) .

IVA Forum :: Topic: The Best Small Business E-Commerce Solutions (1/1)

IVA Forum :: Topic: The Best Small Business E-Commerce Solutions (1/1) The Best
Small Business E-Commerce Solutions

If you have
reached the point where growing your business means hiring more employees and
adding locations, you may be wondering if the potential return is worth the
risk. You have heard stories about other businesses finding success online, but
you don’t have much experience with technology. Companies that provide web
hosting services for small businesses understand your concerns, and they can
offer flexible, affordable options to help you set up and grow your Internet
business.
Envision
Your Business Online
Running an
online business requires many of the same skills you need to manage a physical
store. Business owners have proven that you can sell anything online, from
clothes and computers to fresh groceries and frozen foods. Before you take that
leap, you should plan how you want to present your business and what type of
services you want to offer visitors to your website. Are you going to offer all
of the same products that you sell in your store, or are you going to make your
site a destination that could evolve into a community of people with similar
interests? E-commerce sites fail when owners don’t have a vision for what they
want out of them. Your web hosting provider can work with you to help you
determine the right plan for your needs.
Easy to Get
Started
Even with
limited Internet experience, you can have your website running within minutes.
Basic services include professional website templates that provide the tools
you need to display and describe your products, your own domain name and
associated e-mail addresses to establish your online brand, and the ability to
process secure payments online so that customers can order at any time. Many
services also include basic reporting tools to help you track visitors to your
site.
You Can Do
More Online
Once you
feel comfortable with your website, you can consider additional services such
as customized website design, marketing tools, and content management. You may
want to enhance your brand by having the site designed specifically to suit
your needs, and you may also want your business established on social media
sites so that your customers can interact with you. You may want to include
videos and posts that show more of your personality or help customers
understand your products better. You may not understand how it works, but if
you know your business, you can find e-commerce solutions that will help you
put your plan together.
Solutions
that Fit Your Budget
You have
flexibility in how to fit your website into your budget once you have a plan
that makes sense for your business. Most providers offer a range of choices,
and you can adjust your plan as your needs change or your online efforts become
more successful. Fees for e-commerce solutions can start from less than $10 per
month, and some services offer a free trial period, allowing you to test
whether or not a website makes sense for you. Your website can be a true
extension of your business, and you can find affordable solutions that cost
less than an additional hire.
Without
having a website, you risk missing opportunities for additional sales and
growth. Those missed opportunities cost you much more than the time and money
you might spend on maintaining your online business. You may have taken a big
risk when you started your business, and if you believe in what your business
has to offer, you should have no trouble taking a small risk by putting it
online.

Establishing
a business presence on the Internet can be a lucrative way to sell, market, and
advertise your business’s goods and services. The following topics provide
details on how to start and manage an online business.
1. Start a
Business
Regardless
of where you choose to operate your business, certain general requirements
always apply. Before you can begin completing specific online business steps
you must follow the basic rules for starting a business. Use these tools and
resources to help take you from preparing your business plan and to becoming a
successful business owner.
2. Register
a Domain Name
A domain
name is the web address of your online business. Choosing and registering a
domain name is the first step to starting an online business. After you've
chosen the name you'd like to register, the process is simple and
cost-friendly. Where to register your name is up to the discretion of
individual businesses.

allocation, protocol parameter assignment, domain name system management, and
root server system management functions. It provides current news on issues
surrounding domain names.
3. Select a
Web Host
A web host
provides you with the space and support to create your website. Choosing the
host that best suits a business is up to the discretion of that business. Costs
and abilities, such as site maintenance, search registration, and site
development, vary from host to host but it is important for it to be both
reliable and secure.
4. Design
Your Website
The website
of your online business is extremely important to its success. Because you
don't have a physical location, this is considered your "store
front". Websites can be designed personally, by hiring someone to work as
your site designer, or by using an independent design firm.
Be sure to
comply with U.S. trademark and intellectual property laws. The same laws and
regulations apply to online businesses as regular businesses. Search for
trademarks currently in use to avoid infringing on another company's rights on
your website.
5. Begin
Advertising and Marketing
Similar to
the traditional market place, online businesses cannot be successful without
customers. For online businesses, these customers come in the form of site
visitors or viewers. Generating the highest amount of traffic possible on your
website will create the highest chance that those visitors will become
customers. Register with search engines and use keywords that will drive the
most traffic to your site.
Advertising
and marketing on the internet is regulated very similarly to the real world,
and many of the same rules apply. The Federal Trade Commission has created
several guides to help online businesses comply with these regulations.
